Les nouveaux visages du Hip Hop au féminin. Nia Keturah (Washington DC.) & Signif (New York). Part. 1

1) Who are you ?

Nia Keturah : I »m a child of the creator. An observer of light. A boogie boarder. A daughter and a sister. Then an artist.

Signif : I »m a poet, writer, emcee, sister, daughter, aunt, and a pillar to her community. Signif means short for Significant, after bouncing a few names around Signif was the one that stuck.

2) What are your influences ?

Nia Keturah : Erykah Badu and Frank Ocean make me want to torch my notebook. The fictional character Nina from the love jones. The melodies created by Miles Davis.

Signif : My musical influences are Jazz, Hip Hop, R&B, and Reggae; my surroundings, family, friends, and current events also influence me.

3) What makes you write, what inspires you the most ?

Niah Keturah : Nature usually inspires what I write alone in dimly lit rooms. Be it the nature of something or the general environment.

Signif : My surroundings and what’s actually going on with me at the time inspire me the most to write.

4) What do you think about the hip-hop female scene ?

Niah Keturah : It »s very interesting because your gender comes first. People will see you as a female before they see you as a rapper. This is something I embrace.

Signif : It’s alive ! I’m hoping it keeps growing stronger as more of the ladies move to the forefront and just do them.

5) You are more Azaelia Banks or Iggy Azalea ?

Niah Keturah : I respect them both but I »m neither.

Signif : I haven’t heard that much from either of them but I’m probably more The standards must be in a uniform format, using language that is easily understood by the average enrollee, and must include uniform definitions of standard buy-detox.com and medical terms. Azaelia Banks.

6) Which artist inspires you the most ?

Niah Keturah : Kehinde Wiley, an american painter. If I could rap how he paints I would be the best.

Signif : This can change at any given time but Bob Marley definitely inspires me.

7) Which music do you listen in your iPod right now ?

Nia Keturah : Miloh Smith – Suite 404

Signif : I have this Anita Baker mix that I keep listening to while I’m out and about I have to put some new music on my phone.

7bis ) It will be your 1st time in Paris, how do you feel it ? Are you aware about French Hiphop ?

Signif : I feel great, can’t wait to see the city and to do the shows I’m truly stoked about coming there and I’m sure this will be the 1st of many ! I’m not up on many French hip-hop artists so if you have any suggestions that I should check out please let me know.

8) How do you see the future ?

Nia Keturah : So bright I have to wear my sunglasses !

Signif : I see more touring and more music, to share with the listeners in the future.

8bis) And if you were not singing what would you do ?

Signif : I would probably teach or work in the finance world, I can see myself as a big power broker

Signif en concert le 19 juin prochain à l »International. Plus d »infos en cliquant sur ce lien : Événement Facebook.
